Auto Bill Pay

Your Painesville Utility Bill can be paid via a direct withdrawal from your specified bank account on the due date. You will still receive your monthly bill as usual, allowing approximately two weeks to review the bill before the payment is made. To sign up for Auto Bill Pay, mail the Auto Bill Pay Application along with a voided check to the City of Painesville, Utilities Office, P.O. Box 601, Painesville, Ohio 44077.
 
If a customer wishes to cancel their Auto Bill Pay service, they must provide a written request to the Utilities office. Call 440-392-5797 with any questions.
 

Online Payment
You can pay your utility bill online with a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or AMEX card. Painesville Utilities uses the third party, Official Payments Corporation, to process credit card payments. To pay online, go to www.officialpayments.com (Jurisdiction code is 8411). There is a convenience fee for this service which cannot be waived.
 
Payments made through Official Payments Corporation may take up to 3 business days to be posted to your account. Late payment fees will be assessed on payments received after the due date. Please note, credit card payments cannot be made in the Utilities office inside City Hall. Credit cards can only be used online or via telephone.


By Telephone
You can also pay your bill with a Visa, MasterCard, Discover or AMEX card over the telephone using Official Payments Corporation at 800-487-4567. There is a convenience fee associated with this service which cannot be waived. Payments made through Official Payments Corporation may take up to 3 business days to be posted to your account. Late payment fees will be assessed on payments received after the due date.
 
 

By Mail
Utility bills can be mailed directly to the City of Painesville, Utilities Office, P.O. Box 601, Painesville, Ohio 44077. Plan ahead if you are mailing as bills are considered paid on the day they are processed, not the day they are mailed. Avoid those late fees! ****PLEASE NOTE: If paying your bill through your personal bank’s website, your bank will mail the payment to us, as we are not electronically equipped to receive these payments.*****
 
 

Drop Boxes
For your convenience, payments may be deposited in the drop boxes located in the parking lot behind the Fire Department (entrance from E. Erie Street) and on the back steps of City Hall (entrance from Mentor Avenue). The drop boxes are under 24/7 video surveillance and are emptied every business morning by 7:30 a.m. and processed daily during hours of operation. Please do not put cash in these boxes, stop inside City Hall to pay with cash.
 

In Person
The City of Painesville Utilities Office is located on the first floor of Painesville City Hall, 7 Richmond Street, Painesville, Ohio. Please note, you must enter through the rear of the building from the back parking lot to enter City Hall. We operate Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Cash and check are the only forms of payment accepted in office.
  

If You Pay Late...
·      A 5% late charge is applied to the account 
·      Electric/Water service is subject to disconnection 30 days after the bill is due
·      Restoring service may include paying all past due bills, reconnection/service fees, and unpaid deposits
·      Checks returned for insufficient funds are subject to late penalties plus an additional $10 fee
